CHRISTMAS TIME IS COMING!! =)

CHRISTMAS TIME IS COMING!!!! =)

Do you know what “Christmas Pudding” is? Does your Christmas dinner include a Christmas Pudding? I know that this is not a custom in Spain but in England is one of the most characteristic things in this time of the year. Even the pudding is the most special part of the meal.

Nowadays families alter the way it is cooked and presented to create their own unique traditions. Originally the Christmas Pudding was referred to as hakin because of its multitude of ingredients.

The first recipes came from the Middle-Ages (in the medieval England) and it was called mince pie. In 1595 it became plum pudding (or plum duff), because of the addition of new ingredients.

One interesting fact is that in 1664, it was forbidden by the Puritans as a lewd custom unfit for people who followed the ways of God.

In 1714, King George I re-established pudding as part of the Christmas feast even though a religious society of friends, known as the Quakers, strongly objected this idea. The Christmas pudding was not a tradition in England until it was introduced to the Victorians by Prince Albert. By this time the pudding looked and tasted as it does today. Have you ever eaten this delicious dessert???
